Job Summary

Assure no business interruption to the manufacturing processes related to utilities/facility through the proper set up, maintenance and troubleshooting of facilities and utilities equipment.  Perform work to maintenance machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of a building in repair. Duties may involve pipe fitting; HVAC maintenance; insulating; welding; machining; carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment.  

Job Details/Responsibilities

  • Provides maintenance, troubleshooting and/or repair of mechanical and electrical equipment at the site including Vacuum, Compressed Air, Emergency Generation, Power, City Water, HVAC Equipment.
  • Ensure to maintain the complete stock of spare parts for the equipment under the Facilities and Utilities scope.
  • Follow maintenance procedures and frequencies based on equipment manufacture's operation and maintenance manuals, recommendations, and equipment reliability history.  
  • Report results to the appropriate piers and clients (inside/outside facilities) on a frequent basis.   
  • Coordinate with outside contractors and vendor’s miscellaneous work related to the scope mentioned above.
  • Complete the contractor’s working permit for general/dangerous work and notify Facilities and Maintenance Manager or Sr. EHS Specialist of any risk condition or situation before performing any work.
  • Ensure all preventive maintenance is completed on schedule, either in-house or by a vendor and must maintain the CMMS system updated.
  • Document and upload the service/equipment history service files into the system.
  • Document Work Orders for any preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Must have experience with reading blueprints and schematic drawings, along with the ability to read and comprehend technical manuals and instructions.
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations, makes recommendations for safety improvements, and utilizes required PPE and safety equipment. 
  • Provide support to obtain estimate costs to repair machinery, equipment, or building structures.
  • Paint or repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, or other parts of building structures (interior and exterior).
  • Test and treat water supply.
  • Experience and be a member of the Emergency Response Team, preferred.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment by fostering open communication, teamwork, and commitment to excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with all TPR procedures and all applicable regulatory agency requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)

  • Computer basic skills in Word, Power Point, Excel, and Maximo CMMS Program.
  • Be available for after hours on-call program to respond immediately to emergency situations.
  • Make decisions and solve problems by analyzing information and evaluate the results to choose the best solution.
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials, stand and walk in long period of times.
  • Handle and move objects by using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
  • Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Must wear safety shoes during working hours.
  • Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide and rounding).
  • Strong focus on the specifics and paying close attention to small details. It involves carefully and meticulously considering all aspects of a task or situation to ensure accuracy and efficiently.
  • Basic computer literacy, data and keyboard entry, communication skills and hand-eye coordination required.
  • Unexpired Puerto Rico driver’s license, at least Category 3, is required since the position requires driving a motor vehicle as usual and integral part of the job.
  • Prior training in GMP and/or ISO regulations is desirable.
  • Basic verbal, written and comprehension in Spanish.  English is a plus.

Qualifications/ Background Experiences

  • Must have valid Electricity or Refrigeration license, both licenses are preferable.
  • Minimum (2) two years of experience in a similar role.
  • Medical device or pharmaceutical environment experience preferred.
